Grassroots and Digital Organizer [part time / full time]

S.T.O.P. is looking for a passionate community leader to help growing our work across New York State to fight for surveillance reform, privacy, and civil rights.  The organizer will be a part of S.T.O.P’s core team, actively coordinating with the executive director, technology director, policy director, and volunteers.

The organizer will be responsible for campaign development and delivery, working on a broad variety of in-person and online campaigns. Examples include legislative campaigns to enact the POST Act, Know Your Rights curriculum development, branding, and relationship management.


  • Develop and implement a statewide digital organizing campaigns and goals
  • Draft and maintain campaign plans and email calendars
  • Expand distributed volunteer management program
  • Use digital organizing tools, including email list, blast SMS, digital volunteer management, and social media platforms
  • Manage production and distribution of content for social media
  • Train volunteers and staff on digital organizing tools
  • Propose new tactics and platforms to connect with impacted communities
  • Write copy for email list, social media and web-based campaigns
  • Manage relationships with volunteers and volunteer communities on all state digital channels
  • Other projects as assigned


  • Prior grassroots and digital organizing experience.
  • Familiarity with Mailchimp and Squarespace.
  • Experience building relationships on digital spaces such as Facebook groups, Whatsapp and community management platforms.
  • Stellar research and writing skills.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office, Outlook, other productivity tools.
  • Clear passion for civil rights, privacy, or related technical fields.
  • Goals-oriented and self-disciplined; able to meet tight deadlines and multitask.
  • Experience building, managing, and growing teams preferred.
  • Experience with search and social media advertising preferred.
